Poverty is defined by the
dictionary as “The state or condition of having little or no money, goods, or
means of support.” Pakistan is a country where more than half of the population
lives below the poverty line.Poverty will have a devastating result on a private and for the most part on
the society.
Poverty is all over and it has to cut back in order that our economy is a lot of stabilized and balanced.
The causes of poverty are mainly lack of literacy and awareness. There are other causes also which are difficult to define but poverty has strong impact on the individual as well as the society. Poverty is an evil from which it is very difficult to escape. In the current economy, the rich is becoming richer and the poor is becoming poorer. This is resulting in the increase in the gulf between the rich and the poor.
The effects of poverty are usually interlinked and affect each other. Poverty leads to lack of availability of basic facilities and amenities of life like food shelter, clothing, and education. All this collectively results in poor health and hygienic conditions. Unemployment is another major effect of poverty, caused due to lack of education.
Poverty leads to poor health conditions due to the unhygienic conditions around, lack of proper nourishment, or mental stress due to tough conditions. This exposes them to lot of disease like asthma, typhoid, jaundice, malaria, and mental stress etc, Intake of stale food, improper diet leads to malnourished.
Poverty result in unemployment as the poor cannot afford proper education. In this competitive world, without a proper qualification and education, it is tough to find a suitable job. A poor ends up being unemployed or getting a job which could barely make him earns sufficient money to support the family and its basic needs.
Lack of education further leads to poverty as illiterate people are unaware and not well informed about the benefits of family planning. They make big families and end up in a situation of lack of resources to support the big family. This increases the problem of poverty. With the limited income and resources, proper education, food, and clothing is not provided to the children.Child labour is the major social evil emerging out of poverty.
