ENGLISH ESSAY ‘deforestation’
FROM 675 TO 700 WORDS
Deforestation is that the removal of forests
and victimization that
land for growing crops, for urban use, for placental mammal, etc. Trees are also cut for
their wood which is used for various purposes for timber, for building things
like houses and furniture, for road, charcoal, for firewood, etc. The unjust
distribution of wealth and power, increase and population urbanization and economic
process is commonly viewed as another root explanation for deforestation.
Overpopulation, urbanization and unequal distribution of wealth is the root
cause of deforestation.
The
removal of trees without sufficient planting of new ones has adversely affected
our environment. Deforestation has resulted in damaging habitat and the rich
biodiversity. It has indirectly affected the water cycle. All this has also
contributed to global warming.
Deforestation
causes extinction of certain species of birds and animals of the wildlife, as
they lose their habitat. This forces them to wander here and there in search of
food and shelter in the long run; their specious start to become extinct
adversely affecting the food cycle.
Deforestation
affects our water too. Trees take in water from their roots and then drive it
out into the air as moisture. This moisture then gets converted into clouds
that bring rain. If we have fewer trees, the atmosphere is dry. With fever
trees, our soil does not have as much support and much silts is released into
the waters, resulting in the loss of soil and more flooding.
Deforestation
also leads to soil erosion. The roots of trees bind the soil together. If the
soil is sufficiently shallow, they act to keep the soil in place by also
binding the underlying bedrock. Tree removal on steep slopes with shallows soil
thus increases the risk of landslides, which can threaten people living nearby.
Forests
play an important role in cleaning the polluted air. The trees inhale carbon
dioxide and exhale oxygen which is important for man to survive. Trees give us
fresh air to breathe which is now hard to find because of deforestation.
Deforestation
also leads to change in climatic conditions. This is another factor why the
seasons are shifting.
Desertification
and displacement of population are also causes of deforestation. This is
because man is cutting trees for his own needs. When a particular forest is
exhausted and there are not more resources left, he leaves that place and
migrates to another near another forest.
With
more population, there is more demand of natural resources that are extracted
from forests. Thus, population growth is also a contributor to deforestation.
The
economic impact of deforestation is huge. Many medicines are made from tree
extracts. Paper is one of the major products that we get from wood pulp.
If
deforestation continues at this accelerating pace we will be left with very few
trees on earth. Deforestation alone is the cause of many problems on earth.
Many countries have raised this issue of deforestation as serious. Many
tropical countries like Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Bangladesh, China, Sri
Lanka, Laos, Nigeria, Liberia, Guinea, and Ghana have lost large areas of their
rain forest. Philippines, Thailand and India have declared deforestation as a
national emergency.
It
is now critical to prevent deforestation by various means. We all use trees in
some way or the other. Therefore it is our responsibility as responsible
citizens, to take part in and join hands to save trees.
To
protect our forests and woodlands, the animals that live in them, the soil, the
water, the air that we breathe, the environment we live in, and for the health
and well-being of human kinds, it becomes our duty to use paper products
responsibly and sparingly. Recycling paper products contribute greatly in
conserving forests. More consumption of recycled paper products and less use of
papers, tissues, etc should be encouraged to preserve more forests.
Deforestation
is also avoidable by planting new trees. Many organizations and enterprises
have taken social responsibility of planting trees in cities and villages.
Forests are a blessing. We cannot imagine the earth without trees. Therefore,
stop deforestation should be our new motto.
