University
education is divided into graduation, Post-graduation, master and
specialization. We call university education because all the examinations at
this level are held by different universities. Classes may be held at a university
or at different college with the university but the teaching is as per the
curriculum designed by the university. University education has different
branches and disciplines. Non-professional education is imported in ordinary
colleges and universities while education in engineering, medical, science,
agricultural science, commerce, law, teaching and other professional fields is
given in colleges and universities set up to exclusively impact professional
education. Universities are usually of two categories. In the universities
falling in the first category classes are held for internal students, curricula
are designed and examinations held for internal students (those who attend
classes at the university) and external students (those who attend classes at
different colleges affiliated with the university and private students those
who study themselves). Except for Allama Iqbal Open University, Islamabad, all
the other universities fall in the first category. Allama Iqbal Open University
falls in the second category because it does not have any arrangement of
holding regular classes.
