english essay on 'CO-EDUCATION'From 500 to 600 Words
Coeducation means that both boys and girls study
together in the same school, college or any other educational institution. In
Pakistan, there are still many such institutes which do not offer coeducation
and are for either boys or girls. This practice is followed since the ancient
times. However, which changing time and culture the need of coeducation has
greatly increased.
Now, women are working equally with men in every
field unlike earlier times. There is a deep need of changing the mindset of the
people who think women are inferior to men. Therefore, right from the
beginning, girls and boys need to study together in schools. Girls have an
equal right of education as boys. It is the need of the time for the society to
change accordingly. Educationists have now realized the benefits of coeducation
and they are consciously working towards it.
Education must take into account the overall
development of personality, his intellect, his emotions and the ability of
recognition of his own thoughts, opinions, aims and objectives. Therefore,
coeducation is equally important for boys and girls for them to learn and
respect the opposite sex.
There are many advantages of coeducation. It
gives a wide horizon to the society to think and the ability to change the
outlook towards life and others in it.
The separation of the opposite sexes creates
several complexes and inquisitiveness in girls and boys in their growing age.
Separation gives rise to further attraction towards the opposite sex leaving
many questions unanswered. The old conservative thought of keeping the opposite
sexes apart actually makes their lives complicated. They also fail to gain
confidence and groom their personalities. Therefore, coeducation is a must.
Another advantage of coeducation is that it
helps girls and boys to polish their personalities further. It is a natural
need of every girl and boy to please the opposite sex and attract. To fulfill
this need, boys adapt a softer approach shedding their roughness and try and
become gentle towards girls. Girls also overcome their shyness, which helps
them gain confidence making them bold and fearless. Girls can face the world better
in such circumstances. Girls also get the courage to fight single-handedly for
their rightful place in the society.
Coeducation enables boys and girls to come in
contact with one another on various occasions. They receive their
lessons together, they play on the field jointly and they participate in the
extra-curricular activities such as debates and cultural programmes together.
This helps them grow together and exchange views and opinion about various
topics.
Coeducation provides for better understanding
between the two sexes and prepares a fine background for the marital happiness
of young men and women. It is through this platform of coeducation that boys
and girls study the habits, opinions, inclinations, hobbies, likes and dislikes
of each other.
Studying together develops a healthy environment
for competition among boys and girls. It also gives them a free, broad and
positive environment to learn and grow into confident young men and women.
Today in every field men and women are working
together as partners, equally, so it becomes very important to give children
that same environment while they are in school too. Hence, coeducation is
essential for a progressive society where men and women must co-operate to
build a better world. These young boys and girls are the future citizens of our
country. Their education, knowledge and healthy thinking that they have gained
together as young students are essential to the making of a new progressive Pakistan.
